Chess Openings are No Easy Fix for Success!??

I have always found it so amusing that so much time is spent by chess students in search of some miracle, a magic chess opening that will launch them into a string of victories?! I used to give chess lessons 20 years ago in schools and all new chess students once they have reached a stage where they can start out on the road to chess improvement would Automatically start spending all there energy looking for a Magic Chess opening to be pulled out of a magic 🎩 Hat?? And suddenly having found the opening they find it doesn't produce the goods, so it's onto the next magic opening, then the next?? So much energy wasted in search of a quick fix, but sometimes there comes a talent maybe 1 in every 20 who would listen to some wise words and study the important parts of this great game that would promote such progress such as Pawn Structures, Middle Game play and transposition from Middle game to end game these are the way forward to chess enlightenment, not the magic chess hat and what can be pulled out!!?

The weaker the players the more they are obsessed with openings.

It's natural. Newer chess players tend to be fascinated about openings (particularly by their names imo and the social media promotes them) but they find the other aspects of chess boring and confusing.

Easier to buy a fancy guitar than to learn how to play it....

openings are few lines to remember, and usually at low level whn you know couple of openings really well it will get you very far, you can spam london for instance and you will win over 50% of your games and get a nice rating boost when you play a lot of games, middle game study is lengthy process and usually just consists of remembering a bunch of accurate games from gms or computer lines, chess is not magic, there is certainly some talent in there, but most of is just games played and pattern recognisiont, the sooner you start the bigger advantage you have, starting at a young age you are massivily ahead already and you cannot just pick chess say at 30 and get very far in couple of years, online you make more progress sure but OTB the progerss is very very slow
