These tests are a bit of a blunt instrument. Research always has the problems of sample and methodology.

Self reporting is always a bit unreliable.  Interesting, but certainly not a reliable diagnosis of autism.

During my childhood some people thought I am weird.

Score 32 points means I am mostly normal, doesn't it?

Please report your scoreHERE if you haven't already.

27 points. Just as I expected, I'm almost autistic.

The problem with this is, that autism is (in my understanding) a condition where the brain tends to focus on things to a severe degree. What is to say that I am not autistic about social situations? There was one question that asked if I find it easy to keep track of several conversations at once in a social setting. Not only is it easy for me, but I also keep track of emotional moods of everyone in the conversations. The cause and effect of interplay inside the social stucture. I can tell you what someone is going to say next, if we were invisible in the room, without interfering- based on the emotional tune that each person has been playing. People to me, are like a symphony. So, let's say it were possible for me to answer those questions honestly (without knowing the intent behind them, thus skewing my answers subconsciously) even if I got a zero, it could be a meaningless answer, because people have always been my focus.

I scored 38, and my top FIDE rating was 2138

As many programmers I have Asperger's which explains my results of the test. I think autism helps me playing chess (as well as programming) - I can focus on analysis without noticing the presence of outside world :)

I scored 21 and thought: "Jeez, hope I don't have some low end of the spectrum".

He's the only person who has ever had a 2864 rating, so who else would it be? There was an incident a while back where somebody asked Magnus if he had autism, and he seemingly jokingly responded "isn't it obvious?" Some people took that as a serious response, and there have been rumors ever since. I don't think there's anything to them at all though, because Magnus is a great conversationalist who doesn't at all seem like he struggles with any of the social problems that those on the Autism Spectrum struggle with.

That was clearly a joke.

Does it realy make a difference if somebody is autistic?  My best friend is autistic and I've known him since preschool, but I consider him to be more intelligent than me since he remembers so many different things.  How many of you can remember the ten tallest buildings in the US, knowing where they are (street included), what they are used for, how tall they are, and which dates the construction started and completed?  How about which ones of you can also create stop-motion animation films that are seemingly flawless?  I think that autism is stereotyped wrongly, and that autistic people are much more intelligent but just focus on doing what they enjoy rather than socialize with large groups of people.

I agree. I wish a were. Some people are just lucky.

Are you being serious, or are you just being a smartass?
