Chess Psychology Question

So I read a post by someone who broke the 800 barrier, and that is something I greatly want. My question is this: how much does attitude play in your performance in chess? When I’m not super into it, my average accuracy is probably 60, but I just played a game with the intent to reach 800, and got 91.something in that game, so I think there is some correlation. What do you guys think?

Yeah sometimes your attitude is key

Attitude and mentality will affect just about anything you do in life. Of course, skill and performance matter as well. Stay positive, keep learning.

You answered your own question, of course you play better when you have the goal of playing better

Hi! I agree attitude impacts performance. So does working on your weaker points. Check out my post on improving at chess:

Good luck!

Your accuracy score is mostly correlated with how early your opponent makes a mistake. Don't pay much attention to it until both players are playing without mistakes or blunders.

Play like a GM and you will become a GM in no time.

Having a positive attitude can help you bounce back from losses or mistakes. Instead of getting discouraged, you're more likely to view setbacks as learning opportunities.

Attitude is important, but it’s unlikely to be the fundamental issue stopping you from progressing to 800 :)
