Chess puzzle query

Hi - I'm very new to playing chess, so please forgive me if I'm missing something very elementary here.

I solved the following puzzle but I'm unclear as to why this is the correct solution, as opposed to my incorrect solution. Please see pics below:

1) White to move

2) Incorrect move

3) Correct move according to Chess.

The correct move is checkmate, the incorrect move you showed just loses a queen because his knight on f6 could take your queen

Why is the Chess.com solution better than my move to take the rook and put the King in check. Their solution has me next to the King who can simply take my Queen? Or, is the King unable to take my Queen?

Donverdi

Thanks for speedy response. Can the King not take my Queen?

I did say I'm new to chess!

Doh! Just seen the Bishop. Thanks for your help 🙏
