Yes, thank you !
Chess rating system
During registration, they ask for the level of skill, with which your initial rating changes...1800, if you're expert; 1200, if you're intermediate and 800, if you're a beginner.
I also asked about the ratings, but, after almost 200 games and still securely positioned in the 1100-1200 range, I have had an epiphony that I am destined to be a mentor to those rated below 1100. So, expecpt for the occaisional tourney, I will play only those rated 1100 or below.
What is the op?
The op and #2 have all logged in during the past week, and #3 runs the operation.
The wonder is that I do believe this is my first post to this thread.
My candid opinion is that the rating system is by and large reliable, even here.
But, frankly, I care less and less about my ratings as time goes by.
For many, their main purpose is bragging rights, or worse, a cause too often for gross insults by those who have a higher rating.
Noblesse oblige, of course, applies when ratings are over 2700+.
They just smile modestly.
Thank you. Everyone must have their bragging rights, if only a smile. I even have mine, but modesty forbids. I will do my best for those just beginning their journey.
Mike
My post omitted to answer your question.
I read your What as a Who.
The OP is the Original Poster.
Marvellous to relate, the first three are still extant, and not extinct.
Please do not let me detain you on your journey any further.
Good luck with it.
