My rating started out as 1000 not 1200. Is this supposed to be like this?

My rating started out as 1000 not 1200. Is this supposed to be like this?
Depends how you gave your chess skill level during registration.
From what I know,
New -----> 800
Beginner -----> 1000
Intermediate -----> 1200
Expert -----> 1800

There is one more level for sure, may be two.
400 is the lowest.

That may be, but at least this thread provides some useful information for people who aren't familiar with how ratings work.
That's a lot more than what most threads accomplish.

Congratulations for starting the thread. Thanks for telling us. Otherwise we would never have known where the OP got to.
I realize that this isn't the correct place to post this question, but I'm a newcomer to the site and I can't seem to figure out how to start a new topic - I've looked all over and I can't find any guidance.
