Thanks. The default rating range for seeks (for me) is +/-300. Is this standard for everyone?

Maybe you should direct this towards the former management of chesspark.com who decided that they no longer wanted to be, or were capable of being, in a position to support their site and their user base. The alternative was to simply shutter the site and leave all of the users to find their own alternative but chesspark.com was going either way and that was a decision of their management not this site's. Your frustration is misdirected.
From what I've seen, every attempt has been made to provide at least some degree of continuity and to provide a free place for you to continue to play chess. I'd urge you to give this site a chance as it's truly a great place to play and interact with other chess players.
i think the best way is not to show rating until the end of the game ...so that average player like me start to play their best everytime . rating makes u underestimate below average opponent and end up making 60 move when u only need 30 + move to beat him or end up losing . once u knew your opponent is 1500 or so .it doesnt matter losing or winning ..suddently ..we play better than we were .making some creative attack and compact defence . so if we dont know what rating is our opponent is .we might play our best all the games .
I think you start at 1200 because at the begining you lose a lot and they don't want you to get too low like 2 or 3 hundred. And you lose a lot of points at the begining to.
Oh yes it does! How well you play includes how well you manage your time. Time is as much part of Chess as it is in other games. In football you could score the greatest goal in history, but if the referee blows time before it goes in it doesn't count. Similarly in Chess if you don't get your moves in within the time, you lose, and correctly so.
So basically what you're saying is:
Football is a game. Football is timed.
Chess is also a game. Therefore, chess should also be timed.
You've got me convinced.
What's your solution ? Give infinite time and wait until universe collapses ? :-D
After you play 100 games your rating willnot be that much affected from a single loss.

Yes that is the advantage of ECF ratings as well the more game you play the less you rating will get affected by one loss to a lower graded player????? However, I have become a little grade obsessed now and then but after all it is just a number sometimes ........ sometimes you have to go backwards to go forwards .... i know this is a little cliche .... so please ignore if you disagree
My rating in standard chess 1555 My opponent 2054 I win and i get + 56. P.s. that game was a few months ago.
We all understand the importance of a rating system in chess. However, as it is now in CC, this system is open to artificial manipulations which is counter to the objective of the rating system-
1. We can manage (prolong) loosing games, hoping our opponent's rating increases...this will reduce the negative impact on our rating.
2. We can choose who we play based on their rating....say only play weaker players.
3. We can use "silicon", and other friends to assist in our games...and help our ratings.
4. Once we have achieved a "respectable" rating, we can then protect this by profiling our opponents before accepting any matches.
...and I am sure there are many more ways to "manage" your rating.

None of your points really manage your rating. Delaying your games is as likely to result in your opponent's rating going down and making your rating losses worse. Ratings are taken into account in rating changes, so choosing players will have limited effect on your rating, and is only effective in the short term. Using a computer merely means your rating reflects your computer use, the rating is still an accurate predictor of your computer assisted results. The only way to really manage an achieved rating is not to play. Any other scheme will fail in the long run.
