everyone starts at 1200. then as you play you get a new rating. it is all based on the Glicko ratings system :) check it out - it's a fun readyed!
Well, i went to that page and there were the glicko system and the glicko 2 system. Which one do we use at chess.com?
Well, since you play chess it will be easy for you to understand this, if you again read the systems study and apprise with your own played game!! or a game you wish to play.
hahahahaha
Great wisdom unveiled!!

To comment on the Average Rating: Before the big scholastic boom, the average rating of tournament players was 1500; The average rating is now 1200.
I wonder what the average rating of chess com players is, of active players.
That is, those, who made a move in the last three months.
If staff could give that data, we could well understand how inflated (or not) the ratings on chess.com are. i.e., if the average rating of active players proves to be 1200+ X, X is the "bloatation" factor
Could it be done, please?

Yes, I believe it could be done by taking related statistics into account and applying the formula. Here I also would suggest to consult Mr Eric's dictionary in Chess.com !!!
When you go to "Live Chess", there is a statistical graph by rating of all the players currently online. I've always seen the norm in the 1200 range.

Well, you are very correct in your obsevation ! 1200 is the norm to begin with.

If this means you claim the average rating is 1200 i don't believe you at all. I don't believe that there are equal amounts people quitting playing chess on chess com with low and with high ratings.
the average must be different from 1200. I only wonder by how much...
hi! Gimce,
hi Suzette !
You both are correct . The average is variable and the graph is based on curve. 1200 is the norm to begin with!!
I estimate that OTB rating is 400 points higher than the .com one.
than correspondence rating? Or than standard rating in live chess. Or the blitz OTB rating is what you have in mind?
Piece value..... my last move was not great,so that piece i pass off as poor judgement on my part...... as for beating kasp. ----- well over the board i am sure my attack will overwhelm the best of them(GMs).I out weigh most and my moves are considered high up there.....ask kasp.
