Chess... the most complex but also most inclusive game!

It struck me the other day that Chess is so inclusive compared to any other sport or game that is held in the same high regard.

You don't have to have expensive kit to learn to play well. A very quick search, you can pick up a chess set for £8 ($10). You can also spend £15,000-£20,000 on a unique hand-crafted set and board... but it won't help you play better.

So no matter your income level, your position in society, etcetera, pretty much anyone can at least learn to play chess.

Of course, I concede it's another matter entirely if you want to get to any level of greatness, that's when you need to invest money in your learning, buying books and other study materials, be able to afford to enter tournaments, etcetera.

We have had 17 official world champions since 1886. "Greatness" in chess is a rarity.
