I started playing chess as a kid in the 90s and I hated openings I didn’t like the idea of memorizing the game it felt like memorizing a dictionary and my memory was horrible. I wanted to think through it myself logic through it and I enjoy solving puzzles and in game study. I memorize minimal openings When I was younger the basics up to move five or so but the opening was the least favorite part of the game to me. With chessable, they made learning opening variations fun and have turned it into a memory game in itself. Anybody else here have a similar story?

A lot of people have been saying good things about that site.

My main hesitation comes from the price though. Don't you have to pay like $100 per opening course you want to learn? So something like $500 to learn 5 openings?

They have many courses for free. I’m doing the D4 course and it’s very extensive. It’s 12 openings with 12 to 15 variations each. I’ve been dedicating a lot of time the past week trying to learn it. I’m surprised how far I’ve gotten in only a week. It’s truly testing my memory skills. I’ll get 95 96% accuracy on 12 variations of an opening so not bad.And it’s free!

You can create your own courses with your own repertoire for free, can't you?
