ChessBase Help

I have ChessBase 12 installed and recently purchased a FritzTrainer Opening DVD on the Sicilian.

Normaly the program runs fine when in the CD/DVD tray. When I take it out it does not run; even though I went through the installation process.

How do I run the fritztrainer off of the harddrive with out the DVD? I.E. which folders do I need to copy from the DVD and what location should I put them in?

Not familiar with that program's setup, but here is what normally is the issue:

1. May be a copy protected feature, and cannot be bypassed except with a special utility.  OR

2. The installation setup may have a feature  for diskless operation.  This is the case with older programs to save on disk spacel  Check for this in the  custom install option when you install it.

I run chessbase trainers from my hard disk. I copy the entire DVD contents into its own folder (e.g. Training). If it comes with CB reader I don't bother copying that. Then in Chessbase, "Open Database" (Ctl-O) and browse to the training database. After you've done that once, CB remembers that database and adds an icon for it into the "My databases" view.

BTW, why is there no chessbase forum anywhere? I haven't been able to find one, if anyone knows of one please let me know.

Sorry tigerprowl, I didn't mean here on chess.com. I've searched the chessbase site, no forum. I was hoping there is a forum for chessbase products "out there" somewhere.

Bluetrane that's the answer I was hoping for!

Thank you for the info. I will follow your suggested steps later tonight. Some of the newer laptops don't even have a CD tray these days. Besides I would not want the DVD to get scratched. So running off of the HD is a must.

Thanks again!

You're welcome. I only buy the download version of chessbase trainers these days, it's quicker to get, and comes as an installer, so it's always running off HD. You run the installer and select where you want to put the course. You don't even have to worry about losing the installer because it's always available from chessbase under the "my downloads" section of your account.

Nimzotech, let me tell you an easier way, though you might have found the answer.

Just copy the entire DVD contents to your harddisk (I use an external harddisk to store all the Fritztrainer DVDs). Then once you open the ChessBase Reader, just go to the folder where you store the DVD contents, and look for a *.cbh file. Double click and your training starts.

when I open notation in cb 15, the move that is displayed on the board is normally highlighted. the highlighting is innaccurate
