It's actually free for every1 if I know it right. At least 281/3914.
Chess.com Membership

Free for everyone? I used to play chess mentor and they give free 10 lessons on chess mentor nothing more nothing less. I'm not sure 281 chess lessons were free.

Hmmm, i went there now, and it's trying to teach me how a rook moves. I don't know how to get to other lessons?

Chess mentor>view courses. Then when you have the list of courses, you have the choice of "study" or"view" for each course. Choose view, and you can see the lessons for each course. You can click on anything that looks interesting and do it. Hope that helps. Stay away from the auto sequential/adaptive nonsense and just do it manually. Once you start a course, it should keep you in it. If not, do the whole view course, view lessons again and start up again where you left off.
And aren't some of the beginner courses now free for all members? I used to be able to log back on as a free member to check stuff like that out, but I can't seem to do that anymore.

Yes, I also went through all these veeeeery basic lessons at the beginning. Free points (if any). But you need to be very precise and you need to read rules, so not to lose rating stupidly (as I did twice when I wanted to be smart).

I am actually a little bummed they give CM on the lower memberships now. It was the main reason I got the diamond and while I was doing more than the minimum for gold and platinum per day while working on tactics, I really don't need more than a few a day now that I am working on strategy and position. The videos are kindof okay but not worth the diamond price. I may downgrade next cycle.
It seems that chess.com allows Gold and Platinum membership to have chess mentor. :D
