Waffles are full of carbohydrates. It's like having cake or cookies in the morning. If you have bad dieting habits then you will be sick. Same in chess. So my rule of thumb is. Don't have my cake and your cake and eat them both too. Just set small goals first. Like salad. Then soup. Then meat. Then fruit. Then desert. Pick a side of the board to play. Make your opening move on that side of the board, E or D pawn two squares will do. Then work on sensible development of the pieces on that side of the board. At this point don't be bummed when you must delay that plan a move or 2 because you gotta fend off your opponents probing. Continue with the plan. Once accomplished develop the other side of the boards' remaining pieces. What im gettin at it that One-Step-At-A-Time Chess is a good general idea that takes more time to grasp than reading the statement, you gotta really digest this idea ...

marcustt is obviously a genus however I still like turkey necks in my gumbo. The best tea for chess  is blackberry sage.

mreedy

play correspondence chess if you want to  rapidly improve your game.

5 minute blitz is to chess as putting is to golf.

heinzie

It's a form of chess in which you talk to your opponent to distract him

congrats on first post! Correspondence chess is chess played by correspondence. It started out with each player sending their opponent a postcard with their move on it. It has evolved into something organized by a chess website such as chess.com, but remains basically the same.

Thanks jtt. Another question .Why do I have 2 tie break pts in a tournament?.So far I have 1 win and 1 loose.I read the help but I still can't understand why I would get 2 tie break points.

Beware the Bongcloud Attack: 1.e4 e5 2.Ke2

mreedy

if white can maintain a pawn on e5 it should be considered a gift from the gods.

mreedy

if you want to draw a higher player, exchange the queen and rooks early in the game.

Don't know. You'd have to ask someone else.

chess is symbolic. p=soldiers b=artillery n=cavelry r= tanks q= special forces k= president

mreedy

don't trade your last rook in the end game if your playing for a draw, you will need him to guard your pawns

jtt96

don't lose unless you are worse at chess than your opponent. (which is true for me most of the time ;))
