Chessicate

Just wondering if there are any pieces of chessicate (chess-etiquette) people would like to see as standard.  Mine would be as follows:

Resign when you have lost don't waste everyone's time

Say good game

Be a good sport - no abuse/bad looser-ship

any ideas?

Ok, mine are -

Never ask/expect the other person to resign simply because you think it is a lost position - there is learning in losing to the end. If not anything, the person can learn lessons about the endgame.

Don't say good game if it was not - it can sound condescending/sarcastic. I might be wrong on this one though

The resignation point is fair - but, for example, I played a guy who made me checkmate them with two queens vs a king, its just dull.  In fact, worse than that, they resigned the move before mate...

Saying 'gg' to me is the 'handshake' of online chess.  Its just like a formal way of thanking the person for the game

Chess etiquette - just be friendly with your opponent whatever happens on the board.

I have a tendacy to always say "gg" after the game's finished. However if it was a short game when my opponent blundered his queen and resigned, it might sound sarcastic.. When I lose however I always say gg.

You could also add saying "hi" at the beginning, although that's not mandatory :)

And what about things Not to do? For example It happens quite a bit to me when someone is obviously losing, he just "disconnects" and I have to wait there for a few minuts to get the win. Sometimes they also say smth like "fy" and leave (you get the point).

I couldn't agree more.

The only time when this has been difficult was when someone lost their queen, disabled chat and just walked off. He didn't even disconnect! The game was 45 0!

Other than that single incidence however, I would say that most people on chess.com are polite and friendly.

IMO, my opponent can resign whenever they like (if at all); a victory is a victory!

-Don't just say 'gg' every time; if it was a particularly good game, make a comment like "Beautiful endgame!" or some such.

Give fair warning before introducing bricks, crowbars and explosives into the game
