That's how I learned to play, and I don't seem to be doing too bad.
Waitzkin is a great teacher
All of the Josh Waitzkin lessons are well worth exploring if for no other reason than to yield insight into the thinking of a master. They are a little like Chess Mentor in that the reasons for each move are made abundantly clear. Larry Christiansen's series is excellent also although more tactical. Even the beginning chessmaster series can be profitable depending on your experience. Try working your way through the lessons and see what you think.
I have Chessmaster Grandmaster Edition and it has a whole slew of tutorials and lessons on playing chess.
Does anyone here have anything good to say about it's lessons overall?
