How do I claim a victory against someone who is playing a 3-day-move game but hasn't moved in 3 weeks? All this time my Online Chess page has said my opponent has a few minutes remaining.

Your opponent is likely on vacation, as is their right.

If you have a forced win, you can set up conditional moves so that your moves are at least performed automatically and you can put the game out of mind.  If you do not, you'll just have to be patient and play it out once your opponent returns.

There ought to be such a button alongside the draw offer, resign etc. buttons.

It doesn't look like your opponent is on vacation. Maybe the site did something special for Lybian players like they did for Eqypt a while back.

You could always resign. There won't be a rating change since there haven't been any moves.

Well, given that no moves have been made in that game you can simply abort it without penalty.

I didn't want to claim a win against a man who may off fighting Gaddafi in Libya, so I asked the chess.com powers to abort the game, but they said doing so was not possible. I'd have to wait for 60 days for a win to be granted automatically. But I don't want a win. I just want to eliminate a game that never really began. He accepted my challenge and then disappeared.

You can abort the game without penalty by pressing "Abort"

Dear Hypocrism: And where, exactly, would that button be?

Gheddafi is not amused

I wouldn't be too chuffed either, with a face that appears to be melting.

Under the chat box, where the resign button usually resides.
