I suppose it just seems too long for people to commit timewise
Classic Time Controls
I share your frustration. It would help if chess.com offered a choice of longer time controls (perhaps 30:20, 45:45 or similar) as default options when submitting a match challenge - that might make it more likely to find opponents. Evidently chess.com doesn't find that there is a cadre of players who would like longer time controls. Alternatively, maybe they don't want to explore the possibility, based on their business model and philosophy. In the meantime, as much as I enjoy and value chess.com, I find that on lichess, I am able to find longer time control matches (usually 30:20) with similarly rated opponents (my lichess rating is around 1580) in around 2-3 minutes on average.
I agree. Chess.com should offer longer time controls. Waltham Chess Club hosts tournaments that are 45|5 through Chess.com.
Bruce - Can you provide more information on the Waltham Chess club hosing tournaments with 45/5 time controls?
How do we petition Chess.com to offer longer time controls as a default? Do you think it would do any good? I'd be shocked if this is the first time they have heard this complaint.
As legends from previous years say: there are plans to add hyperbullet and classic time classes...
But these remain legends...
HYPERBULLET PLAYERS IS THE LAST THNG I NEED.
The legends about hyperbullet seem to be more realistic than the legends about classic time controls
AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Chess.com don't give a damn about chess traditions.
It's a money making enterprise catered to the Internet attention deficit disorder generation .
Hard enough to find 5+5
Try the Lone Wolf League on Lichess, it’s an 11 Rd 30+30 swiss, one round per week. It’s run by the 4545 club which organise a bunch of other stuff too. It’s run very well, extra fair play checks and some integration with Lichess. Games are organised on Slack.
yaknow some of these people are just advertizing
I’m not associated with the Lone Wolf League except as a participant. I heard about it from John Bartholomew’s videos documenting a season he did last year.
It’s a possible solution to the OP’s problem, so hopefully a useful comment. Maybe even as useful as your post #12.

Why is it so difficult to find anyone on Chess.com to play a classic time control game? I speaking of a time control like 60min with a 5sec delay or increment. I have a very difficult time finding anyone who will accept my challenge after I post it.
