I was teaching a kid chess, and when we got to the pawns he sat there for a moment without saying anything... finally he said... "pawns?"
I said, yeah, they're called pawns. Another long pause... "Paaawns?" he says with a puzzled look, drawing out the pronunciation.
Yeah, pawns.
Another long pause, and I start to wonder if the kid is mentally deficient. He asks, "like the body of water? Ponds?"
