Colors and Ratings

Do you think that a win with the black pieces should increase your rating more than a win with the white pieces? Wouldn't that make some sense? 

Why?

For the obvious reason...white gets the first move, thus has an advantage over black. To counter this, they could make it so black gets more points for winning.

I agree. Also, if you are over 40 you should be given more points for winning since, supposedly, your skill starts to taper off around that time.

Did you start playing before you turned 40?

The advantage white gets is minimal in my opinion.

Until about a year ago, I only played the occasional casual game. Really, I barely knew much more than how the horsie moves. 

Or a pony, as Daniel Rensch calls it.
