Bet a hair of a rats nose the op is trolling! Look how many have been sucked in by his nonsense!

He's not trolling, he joined it today. He couldn't win a single game in standard, so he switched to blitz trying his luck there and FINALLY first success that he was thinking, ended in a draw....

He's not a troll, he's just a noobie who needs to learn the rules first and then the game it self .

Once there are only two kings on the board it automatically becomes a draw regardless of what time is on the clock and that is the rules of chess.

BoyStan

What is I about the rule says its draw that the noobie doesn't understand?

I can already imagine his next post: "OPPONENT CHEATED BY MOVING BOTH KING AND ROOK IN SAME MOVE!!!!!"

if white ran out of time on this move it would be draw as there's not enough material for black to win. why should black win for playing worse than white. also in your situation you can't just assume you would win on time (even though that's not he case because it's a draw.) you may have to think about a hard move which in this case is absurd but chess.com can't just assume your not an idiot.

if you actually read my comment and then looked sarcasm up in the dictonary and don't just look at the final two words of a comment then you wouldn't of deleted that comment.

You might be right, the position you posted might be considered a draw, but not because black does not have enough material to win. It is possible for black to checkmate white starting from that position. Highly unlikely, but it is possible.

Ziggy_Zugzwang

I have some sympathy for the OP. No one has mentioned he did have the opposition in the final position...

in order for black to win white will need to move pieces to certain places. however he can't move pieces because he's ran out of time so its a draw.

Yes, hopefully I said it that way. It might be a draw because of time, but not because black doesnt have enough pieces. If white made about 8 or 9 really bad moves, black can checkmate, so it's not a draw because of lack of material, but only because of lack of time.

OP, your're a genius. Thx for your contribution to the chess community. Without you there wouldn't be any interesting discussions here. Also I admire your politeness towards other members.

Do you intend to be a GM? Just go for it! I wish you the best!

MickinMD

The rules simply say that if time runs out, it's a draw if the player who still has time on his clock doesn't have enough material to force a checkmate.  So even if you have two Knights and your opponent had a Pawn and there is a checkmate position possible with those pieces, you can't force your opponent into that position so that is a draw.
