Well, I guess chess.com could give trophies for 1000 member points or whatever; people could then display these in their trophy cases (or not) as they wished. I think that anything more obvious and blingy would just encourage post-whoring.

Yeah, I mean people would spam to get the reward. If the reward were just a badge, it might not be such a problem, but if it were a t-shirt (or... heaven forbid... a premium membership) it would become a much bigger problem.

after the heartbreaking news that I will not receive a t-shirt for 1000 member points (apparently this happened a long time ago- I only joined 2 months ago!), I was, well heartbroken.
But I have a solution: how about instead of the t-shirt, why don't we get a nice widget/badge thing signifying that we are "elite" or "prolific" members of chess.com? It would help distinguish the fully dedicated chess.com members from the rest. It's not like these ppl would get extra privileges, but only a badge- still pretty cool. How about it?
