I have noticed that when I analyize my games with the computer it doesn't seem to take strategies and tactics into consideration, does the computer expect us to play chess as if we were playing checkers?

I think you need to re-assess and understand what a chess engine does. Tactics are the first thing an engine analyses.

When I am creating a basic setup the computer tells me that I am making errors, until I capture the peice, it's as if it has no idea what I am doing....

If your moves are evaluated as errors while you ‘set up a strategy,’ it means your opponent could take advantage of your moves. If the chess engine says you made a mistake, you made a mistake. If you don’t think the engine understands tactics, why don’t you play against it? I’m sure you would win.

I guess I am not skilled enough yet to understand how the computer analyzes our moves, but I usually play higher rated bots than actual people for some reason, they are easier to predict.
