Anyone see it?  I saw it on Netflix.  Is it suposed to be a comedy? I don't get it.

I have just seen it, first thought it was footage from the past.

however it is made as if it was from the 80.

don't know what to call it. I guess it was ok to watch.

got maybe a bit boring from time to time - a bit slow.

it is listed as comedy but I didn't laugh once in the entire movie. So don't watch it if you are in the mood to have fun.

I thought it was awful. It felt like it was ten hours long. I only laughed at myself for watching it.

I don't trust Max...

It looks like the producer of the film posted his idea here, at Chess.com, two years ago:

I thought all sub plots not related to computer chess was awful to watch. since I have a computer background the part about computer chess was interesting enough to see the whole movie.

Yes, the boring subplots ruined what could have been a good idea if they would have actually concentrated on the tournament, and the critics/ proponents of computer chess back in the early 80s. But instead we get people walking around hotel halls trying to find a place to sleep...

It was just weird enough that I enjoyed it. The only part that made me say "Wha??" Was the android hOoker at the end. What's up with that?

It's relevant.  Chess as a computer problem is either solved or nearly solved.  It makes me wonder what is next?  When I read about GM's being baffeled by the latest engine I wonder how long until computers start making other moves.  I'm sure they will no doubt be financial in nature or defense related but regardless.  We will reach a point where they are just correct and we won't quite be able to understand why.  The movie while flawed just briefly reflects on an earlier more innocent moment when we first began to realize that machines might just have the potential to change us in ways we will not be able to understand.
