No offense, but no-one is using an engine at your level, especially in blitz.
Long pauses can happen for all sorts of reasons: Taking a break to get a drink, answering the door and even (very rarely) thinking.

As BloodyJack said, not at your level. Some people cheat with engines, generally with ELO above 2000. Every day chess.com caught some cheaters and close their accounts. So, don't worry and enjoy your games.
Even if they were cheating, who cares. Likey they said, chess.com bans cheats so that end of it will eventually be covered. I don't play lots of it but by the time you play suggested moves i'd imagine your time would be run out.
Either way. Just play the greatest game ever, against random poor sports and nay sayers and all. At the end of the day its what another human thinks of a fellow humans play that really matters. Its not the win or loss against a computer or a bot or a cheater that matters,.
I hate to say it, but just because your opponent thinks a bit and knows what a fork or skewer or discovered check is doesn't make them a cheater... these are some of the most basic moves of the game.
Not that we weren't all there once. I remember playing against a computer (on purpose) when I was new... I found a brilliant move, I was so proud of myself, and then the computer skewered my king and rook! "That's not fair!" I thought. "There's no way a normal player would ever find that move!" (lol @ myself).
I don't do it, BUT, when I'm playing against people, there will be pauses longer than should be. I understand the whole different speeds/connections thing. I've played against people in the middle east, china, and the former soviet union that respond faster than some. Are people putting the chess moves into a computer on another tab to get responses? even if not for all of my games, it has to be happening for SOME, that's a fact jack! it's annoying me.
