Also what is standard, bullet and blitz rating?
This is what caused the confusion. You actually have 3 different live chess ratings depending on the time control. Bullet is fastest and is something like 1 and 2 minute games. Blitz is something like 3 to 14 minute games and Standard is anything 15 minutes or longer. (err... those numbers are about right anyway heh).
The important thing is you have 3 seperate live chess ratings.
1. Yesterday, i won a match, and my rating went up to 690. Today, I won a match my resignation and now it shows the rating as 477
The game you won when your rating went up to 690 was a 20 minute game, and actually 690 is still currently your rating. When you won that game today and you saw your rating was 477 that was actually your blitz rating because that game was 7 minute long.
You can see your live chess games and ratings here:

Hi, I am new to chess and "chess.com". I want to have some understanding about the rating. Let me give some illustrations first:
1. Yesterday, i won a match, and my rating went up to 690. Today, I won a match my resignation and now it shows the rating as 477
2. A few days ago, I lost a game and my rating dropped from 671 to 483 (188 points) and when i lost the next game, the rating dropped to 472 (i.e. 11 points).
So, I am not able to understand why one loss cost me 188 points whereas the other only 11 points.
Also what is standard, bullet and blitz rating?
Thanks
