Daily Games

Recently I just started playing daily games and I encountered questionable moves in all of the four daily game I have played so far. Dispite starting at 800 daily I am rated 1856 rapid and naturally win my daily games, along the way I have noticed that players are given access to the masters database but yet they blunder on the first few moves of the game. it's absurd, is there a reason why they try and play random moves? is it so that people cannot use the database further so It is harder to get better moves? or is it just a thing that 1000's do? The purpose of this post is to tell all of the low-rated daily players to use their resources.

Of course, one might say that is a good thing for me, and it is. but it isnt a good thing for chess itself. players gotta learn and they can learn from masters- yet they choose not to.

Most players don't even know you can use databases even when you explain it to them they think it's still cheating.

I don't spend all the time and money I do on chessable so that I can come here and pick moves out of a menu. Thanks anyway.

If my only two options are 1, to pick moves out of a list and pretend they were mine, or 2, play the game myself and get beat? I'll take option two every time.

I don't know who thought it was a good idea to put that database right there on the game screen but they ought to be taken out behind the woodshed.

It's so you can learn the best moves and remember them in the future

I much prefer to learn that stuff on chessable where it tells me why that move is the best one and in which situations it is best, and in which situations it is not best. The only thing that database can do is help you to memorize some moves. It's pretty well established that is not the way to learn an opening.

If a person relies upon that database to tell them what move to make, they will invariably become dependent on it. When the day comes they play some OTB chess or some live, they are going to get CRUSHED in the opening. Jmho...

It was only about a week ago that here on the Forum I found out that use of the opening database was allowed by the daily rules. I can hardly tell you how disappointed I was. I think for the most part people don't use it, because I notice there's not many players who play theory very deep. I'm good for about 10 to 14 moves if it's an opening I've studied. If I start thinking everybody is using that database, I'll quit.
