data leak - why are we not told?

So my iPhone told me my chess.com password was found in a data leak. I only use it for this site and so the leak must be chess.com, however, I didn’t see any news about this leak.

Why did the site not tell us about this?

There was no data leak on chess.com.

There are services and databases of compromised accounts. We monitor them. For example, according to https://haveibeenpwned.com/ , your credentials leaked from at least 2 websites:

Gravatar and MyFitnessPal
