So I am currently peaking at my max scores of 1720 bullet 1640 blitz and 1904 rapid, I will say that the thing that has helped with improvement the most has mostly been an absurd amount of puzzles along in tandem with coaching. Currently, I am experiencing an incredibly hard plateau in that it is improving even harder than before to get better. I have found that bullet is great for reaction and building a very good intuition but I it will not get you 2000+ unless your a super freak genius with some type of insane memory. Blitz is good but I find it reinforces bad habits and their seems to be a general limit on how could you can get with just short-time controls.
My current regiment is roughly 20 puzzles per day 1 15-10 minute rapid game+seeking strong coach+lessons on chess.com + chess diamond. The other issue I've noticed is that I can get a brief improvement and then lapse back into lower level play so focus on consistently playing at a high level. Every rapid game I play I focus on calculations and calculation and improving on different variations but do not overcalculate. Selectively calculate. I think it's also a myth you get worse at chess. I experimented with not playing for a while and only lost roughly maybe 100 elo max and then got back to my old strength. Everything beyond 1600+ requires good end-game, theory and understanding classic end-games from my experience. 1900's aren't that good they simply find superior moves from my experience. My highest victory is beating a NM so titled players are not gods.
The key thing that decides most games is almost always a tactic or a blunder in every game I play, you need to be able to identify tactics as fast as possible before your opponent can. This is critical going forward.
