Did Carlsen bring his own food?

Sort:

Last year, Carlsen brought his own food and personal chef for the match in India. I remember last year there was a hot discussion about it. I was wondering if Carlsen brought his own food and chef to Sochi? If not, why the difference this time?

Thanks

Why In the name of all that is left of what is good and sacred in this world, WHY would anyone care about such an thing?

Sad to see people find so little meaning in their life that they resort to speculate in grandmasters eating habits.

Rant over - i will go and get ripped on something now.

Well, it was an issue last year. Just wondering what is the difference this year. Did he bring his own food and chef, or not?

Oh, the irony.

Well who knows, to be honest, I wouldnt want to walk up to any random street vendor in China or Bangladesh and start eating food that I am not accustomed too and the bacteria associated with them.

If you have a taste for say. Steak and Potaotes, you are going to have a real hard time in India finding a place to serve you, or any beef based dish in the first place, and other meat is yet another issue.

cornbeefhashvili

Well this went south really fast.

 Yes, same chef

huh?

Spotted dick is a pudding popular in Britain, containing dried fruit (usually currants or raisins) commonly served with custard.

I didn't realize it was a real food lol.  I'd only heard of spotted duck.

Probably because he performs better with food he is accustomed to.

I could understand that. Honestly, going to a different country playing for that much money is it worth the risk of getting off your game because of some food that didn't agree with you? Better safe then sorry in those instances. Or perhaps he has a severe food allergy and finds it much easy to have a personal chef then ask what is in every dish on the menu of a restaurant.

have you ever been to India? come around I'll treat you to the best fillet mignon you have ever tasted, and that too at a average food joint (not a fancy place). And carlsen was staying in Hyatt which is a five star hotel. You think they wouldn't have steaks there?

If I ever were to be the challenger of the world championship, I should bring my own limburger cheese.  Maybe the smell would throw him off.  Maybe eat a lot of beans before the match too!

Barry_Helafonte2

i would bring my own food and not trust my opponent's food
