I guess but there were other engines that did well for their rating...
No one can buy community driven open source GPL 3.0 project.
Leela is free and open source, same as stockfish.
P.S. I am proud to be one of contributor( GPU donator) to that awesome project. I was CPU contributor( pool worker) to fishtest before(stockfish).

LC0 is different of course, so it's exciting to hear news of it doing well. It's not an alpha beta serach thing like Stockfish et al. Potentially Leela will be as good (even better than) alpha zero.
If you are interested in computer chess engine tournment, there will be epic battle in TCEC cup in tomorrow between current No 1. (Stockfish )vs No 4 (Leela). It is actually the battle between the reigning champion vs the rising star.
Prediction, as Stockfish is around 50-100 elo stronger than Leela , the winning chance for stockfish would be 80% and 20% for Leela.
There will be 1000+ viewers and you will definately see the epic talk/fight between Stockfish developers/ fans vs Leela developers/fans .

They're not advertising for Lc0, they're leveraging interest in Lc0 to get people to come to the site (to read the articles and watch the videos and receive ad impressions.) People are interested in the program that teaches itself to play and has a very different style.

I tried playing the old star wars chess from 1993.
The program moves fast enough, but the animations take forever. After 30 minutes of playing quickly the game had gone about 15 moves so I stopped.
