2700 is amazing! I think we begin to get better results when we learn to get the positions which we can use our tactics.
Difference between puzzle rating and live chess

Ok, in this 600 is the difference. I began to make tactics here again and went from 1300 to 1800, but I am still improving. I guess I can reach 1900 or even 2000 in a couple of days.
This topic came up before. Someone did a survey of a lot of chess.com players. I think it was thousands of people. The average difference was about 600. For me it's higher, about a thousand. And I don't think it takes into consideration the ones that aren't real, the ones over 3500 or so.

Interesting, now we know, 600 in average. Thanks.

I noticed that if you solve the problem you always get 70% (or +5 points) regardless of the time elapsed after 100%. I think it's related to this, even if I don't know how much average difference there might be. Actually I have 300 difference.

Sometimes I'll get a puzzle that I know there is no way I can solve in just a minute or two. Let alone the 12 seconds they say it should take. So I'll work through the entire thing, taking 6 or 7 minutes. Then and only then will I move. Maybe it's only 5 points, but at least I know I got it right.
And still get it wrong.

my puzzle rating is 3253, good enough for current #44 in the U.S. most of the puzzles that i solve are rated around the 3000 range.
the difference between the ratings is that blitz & bullet train you to move fast without thinking too much, while puzzles train you to root out EVERY nuance of a given position, while constantly increasing your awareness of tactical motifs in both attack & defense.
learn a lesson from each puzzle you fail by understanding WHY the solution is superior to your best guess & it cannot fail to continually improve your playing strength.
chess is 200% tactics, as any computer program would attest. 🙂

Do you always take the time needed to solve the puzzles so that you will be rather sure you found the right moves?

It really depends at which rank you are... but they are more than just 300 higher IMO. I am 1900 rapid and 2300-2400 in puzzles atm

I'm 2000 blitz/bullet/rapid and 2900 puzzle rating. And I think I'm capable of getting 3000+ puzzle rating tbh, I just need to spend several more hours training it.

1585 puzzles rapid 1046.. I've playing for close to two years... I'm learning from my son who went from Rapid:800-1500+ in a year. Trying to think systematically. I know that sounds obvious to those of you who are on a higher level, but maybe this could be called "learning how to learn". The calculating part is crunching the numbers to prove or disprove a possible move. When I get stuck on a puzzle I leave it - if only for a few seconds... it's a state of mind.... just so that I can move on from ideas that didn't bear fruit.... the if I'm still stuck I review ideas which seemed promising, and didn't seem to look right... maybe I missed the new reality of each stage of the sequence... I like the themed puzzles because they build on a specific tactic, and inversely like the assorted puzzles where I can't assume anything..
I think my problem with blitz is that I don’t think before every single move. I should take my time to make the moves, and if I will get in time troubles I should play longer games first.
