'Dirty flagging'
The time clock is an integral part of the game. like a secret pawn. Besides, you dont win until you win.
And also, what about to see this from the other side.. a player playing so fast that he lost super easy. Is his opponent be so gracious to give him a win?
Dirty flag is a technical win but a dirty win if you were in a losing position - losing position is determined by what your rating is ... So sub 1200 maybe if you were about to be checkmated.
So while you get the win you are the worse player since the other player (the loser) will probably be better than you at longer time controls or maybe if you just play again.
If you find all or majority of your wins are by time in losing positions you are poorer than your rating indicates.
It could also mean you are a cheater! Because - hard to believe but a cheater is actually "doing something " when they flag opponent and they have that moronic idea that they played "chess" .
So yeah in summary - dubious win even if a legit game.
There's plenty of grandpa NMs/FMs who refuse to play dirty and stay at 2300 bullet forever. Those are my favourite players to play against because I know I can just premove my way to an easy flag
Doesn't matter if I'm completely lost, I'll dirty flag them each time
Here's a game I had earlier today against a grandpa FM
He has 6 seconds and I have 3 seconds. Because he's a grandpa FM he played the endgame normally and promoted one of his pawns
But at this stage in the game I don't care about the position anymore. I just make premove shuffling moves to flag him now and easily win
The grandpa FMs aren't able to go into flag mode so they stay stuck at 2300. If he was able to dirty flag then he would be 2700 probably

i checked his fide profile, he's about 250 elo better than me. but because he's so slow he's not good at bullet. like i said he could get 2700 if he knew how to be a dirty flagger.
public accusations of cheating are not allowed. grow up
not sure what you think i said that is gloating either. i said he played better and is a better player than me. but i'm better at bullet because i'm willing to be a dirty flagger and he isnt
How is it dirty ? Time is a whole dimension of the game. If my opponent has 1min left while I have 2min30sec on a Blitz game, even 1 or 2 pawns down, I consider myself winning. The opponent got this winning position because he used more time. I actually think it is one of the only aspect in chess correlating with real life. If you don't manage your time well, il a school test, a scientific paper, a work report, anything, if you're not on time, even if your work is really clean, it doesn't matter if you're late.
I was wondering what people's general opinion was on the concept of the dirty flag. By 'dirty flag' I specifically mean not resigning in an obviously lost position in order to win on time. I know this is often considered a faux-pas and unsportsmanlike. Some think it disrespects the game or disrespects one's opponent (them having presumably outplayed you on the board) or similar.
However I tend to disagree with these views. To my mind, the clock is just as much part of the game and the contest as anything that occurs on the board. If a player obtains a clearly winning position having invested significant time to get there, that player must not consider the game finished and must be ready to justify their time investment by winning in the remaining time against resourceful defence.
It stands to reason that if one player plays more slowly their moves are more likely to be of higher quality than their opponent, but the clock is there for a reason and its mastery is an essential part of chess skill in all formats.
