disabling chat

I am a beginner and would like to know if you can disable chat for a particular game whilst in play to avoid obscene comments. I have reported a player recently but if I had resigned then this would have effected my ratings which I am trying to improve whilst enjoying the game. What options do I have if any to stop game without losing my rating. I am using the app on a iPad. I have blocked this player. I don’t chat much but have received some encouraging chats and suggestions which have helped, so would like to keep chat on. Helpful suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for that. It’s not terribly clear on the iPad, but I’ve got it now, cheers.

The one good idea, Chess.com ever had.

Letting us disable chat.

I reported a player last week for obscene chat, will I ever know what action was taken by chess.com ( I did block them and now know how to disable chat for individual games), Still I would like to know whether this player will ever be able to chat in this manner with any other player. Sincerely hope not. I am enjoying chess here and am pleased with the response I received with regard to the disabling chat. Cheers.

When I play bullet/blitz anyone who starts with "chat blocked" is permanently blocked and game aborted. I assume they're kids or panzies - either way I won't play them.  At this point, I must have blocked 1,000+ players. Radish3 is the latest.

You can't have blocked 1000 players unless you unblocked 800.

The blocking limit is 200.

Normally the Support person picking up your issue will let you know about what action has been taken, although sometimes they'll just tell you that it's being taken care of.

And letting us close our own accounts.

You don’t even have to look at the comments but if they’re being that noisy
