Disconnection problems
It’s cold comfort, but a single loss doesn’t really affect your rating. The way they are calculated, you will quickly return to your playing average. If it’s a persistent problem, it’s probably a connection issue on your end.

well last time I tilted 100 points cuz of disconnection, I just wanted to see what will happen if I keep on playing.
Also the difference between 1599 and 1600 can be very psychological and every rating point/game might matter to keep momentum
No web site can be responsible for your connection or your psychological state. Again, they have no choice. People will abuse the system if they start giving back points for disconnections. Losing? Just turn off your internet connection and you’ve lost nothing.
I've had several issues with Chess.com saying I was disconnected, yet I could immediately open a different tab and bring up a random website without problem. So, the issue isn't my ISP or my end.
You might be disconnected when chess.com's live server is down for maintenance, but the site doesn't just suddenly stop working, that's never ever happened to me.
The only times I haven't been able to access the live chess section is when my own internet is going down.
I should also point out that this happens at home and at work. 2 separate ISP, same identical issue.

Im making a broad statement by saying chess.com doesn't just randomly crash every so often? there's no evidence to suggest this. I've never seen thousands of people suddenly making forum posts about not being able to access the site.

The site crashing, and people being disconnected, are 2 different issues. I get the 502 error with the goat about once a week. I get the disconnections several times. They're more frequent on my phone (wifi or cellular) so I only play unrated on mobile.
But yes, I have been having the disconnections for over a year. The only reason I commented here was because I saw the thread title in the corner of my home screen. I usually ignore the forums.
Why don't u report the problem ur having to staff. maybe they could find a solution for u.
I have. I have also reported an issue on mobile where even though you choose "unranked" it still puts you into a ranked game.
I'm not losing sleep waiting though. It's a free platform.
People fail to understand they could have an excellent connection at high speeds - that the real issue often is about it’s stability. They have no control over the amount of traffic or sudden spike in information being sent over the pipes- and they get temporarily bumped until settings are reestablished which generally are of short duration .
