Disconnections in live games

I started playing live games here recently. I like the fact that it's easy to find someone to play with and the interface is easy to use.

However, I'm having frequent disconnection problems. I just lost another game that I was winning a few minutes ago. I kept getting disconnected and reconnected, but nothing would work after a while. I tried F5 to refresh and it said I had abandoned the game. I don't care so much about the win/loss, but it's frustrating to waste the time that way.

This is the second time it's happened in a couple of days. It's not my Internet connection; I'm having no other connectivity issues.

Any suggestions, other than to avoid playing live games, which is not a solution?

Disconnection usually is the fault of your own connection. Are you using dial-up or a weak wifi connection?

Broadband a few feet from the router and I've even tried plugging into the modem. I have no other connectivity problems.

Since I've been using my desktop PC and ethernet connection, I haven't had any disconnects. I'm avoiding the laptop and wireless now when I play here. For how long am I going to receive that warning about possibly having my account restricted if I "intentionally" disconnect again? I think I only disconnected three times, and in two of the three games, I was clearly winning. I assure you, the disconnections were not intentional!

Blast it, I lose too many bullet and even blitz games due to frequent disconnections. It does not seem to happen to opponents, I don't see their clocks trickle down to zero with plenty of seconds to spare in a winning situation as happens all to often to me. This doesn't happen on other chess sites, so I'm not blaming the wifi.

Sigognac, do not worry about losing bullet or blitz games because of disconnection--you will get your rating back in about 10 more games.

How would you like what happened to me once--playing poker $900.00 plus in the pot and I have the nuts--the best possible hand and about to get my winnings and disconnected   Cry

So, put things in perspective.

Good point. For me it's not so much about the rating then the fact that losing in a winning position is so frustrating.
