do tactics improve my game?

I am so sick and tired of being hammered by tactics.other than learning 23thousand ways to do a smothered checkmate, none of which I managed in my games ,I don't think i've learned anything.I "might" get lucky and earn 5points for getting one right but let me make one little tiny mistake and even if I figure it out I lose 9 point's !why doesn't the thing ever let me win 9 points? I have to get two or three right just to get the points back.no way to back up the last move,no way to get a hint,no way to do "anything" that will help me find out what I'm doing wrong.the only thing tactics are good for is getting me mad!

It takes patience.

Time is required for things you learned to "sink in".

Sleeps help integrating your new memory with existing memory.

Believe or not but tactics at lower level are harder than those at higher level. Once i was stucked at 1200-1300. I reset rating and i solved first few so my rating skyrocked to 1500. Then i find that i solved more than i solved before at lower rating. After about 500 tactics i started to understand what exacly the position whant from me. To get better first you need to see material, king position, is it safe or comp will mate me next move etc, where are my pieces am i attacking his king etc. then slowly i started to win and now i am solid 1700-1800 level and this is without reading books or anything like that. You just get used to. And yes just minute ago i checkmated in one game using pattern with bishop and queen that i learned from this tactic trainer. Much to learn.

The good news is that V3 has a really useful review feature where you can practice questions by motif, or rating or even just the ones you've failed. So if you've built up a history of thousands of questions already, then you can zero in on problem areas.  Like oh, just for example, say you were reviewing Remove the Defender tactics you had failed and you missed the same problem again (and againEmbarassed), you know there is a blind spot that needs attention.  You could pay big bucks to a coach to get that kind of focused feedback.

Bad news is no one knows when Erik will release it. Back to school?  Halloween Horror?  Holiday shopping?  Let's wait until the Windows 10 browser stabilizes?
