Do you have to say "Check" or not?

Every time I play, I say "Check" as usual, even if I´m playing with a very hard opponent (not neccesary a IM, FM or GM), but it´s not very often to see this on a tournament or important match.

I saw a video of a ChessTuber and he said that he´s made a move and said "Check" and his opponent said something like "Don´t say "Check" again, I´m a proffessional" in a very rude mode, so I don´t know if it´s correct to say the word "Check". Dispite of that, if a player is in "Check" and move another piece, another tipe of move that is not in order to "block" the "Check", it´s an Illegal Move and I think he or she loses the match.

So, what do you think? Is it good, bad, ok, not appropiate to say "Check"?

It is not customary to say check in a tournament game.

If somebody makes an illegal move, you can tell them that it was illegal and you could explain why ( because they were in check.) They don't lose the game. The piece is replaced where it was. That's where score sheets become important.
