It's 'dakbaia' in my language which is more generally used for 'to pluck' or 'to pick' (as picking a flower) or 'to win' (as for example in a sports game). 'Witin king ba dakban' ('He or she took the king'), 'king' being a borrowing into my language from English for the concept of 'king' in general, not just the chess king.
