Do you think its possible to have my chess club sponsored?

So I started a new chess club at my high school. The problem is we don't have a budget. Meaning as of now no chess boards or clocks ): . I plan on adding dues of $10, meaning we might be able to scrap up $200 (estimated 20 members or more). However, I want our club to also be in tournaments, the members will purchase their own uscf membership, but we can't afford a bus, and I want to make entry fees club paid so that kids aren't paying $50 to join a club. I would also like to do monthly in club tournaments with half decent prizes, like a gift card for first. This all will be hard to do without money, so I thought maybe my officers and I could formally request sponsorship from local businesses, like a pizza parlor. So do you think I can get a decent sponsorship? What is the best way to persuade them? Or should I seek a different way to build a budget? P.s. I plan on buying club shirts with sponsor logo on back, so that would also be a factor in sponsorship I guess.
