I guess it does, after I played one classical game (not in chess.com) I did really bad in bullet
Does bullet take a toll on your calculation skills?

I think playing bullet can be harmful for your longer time controls games and it happens to almost every under 2000 rating person. Its simply harder to adjust after we play bullet even if it was 'only' ten games. But when Hikaru and Daniel Naroditsky do it, it can't harm their play at all, maybe there is just misroscopic difference

I am wary of too much blitz also, but I think in small amounts is maybe helpful.

Hard to tell but too much bullet and blitz makes me worse. Then I try rapid and get better. Then I go back to those time controls and I'm better in them and classical. It's a bit cycle.
Its hard to tell as ninjaswat said, because i sometimes warm up using bullet for a longer time controls, in some ways bullet helps overall speed and on other hand it doesnt let u calculate deep..
i guess what most people r doing wrong is that they only play bullet and blitz and dont even consider playing rapid or classical online
but i do play more rapid and classical nowadays
but i never abandoned blitz and bullet, it has always been in my heart ,
In my opinion (Below master level)
45 min - 120 min classical is real chess and it has everything ( This is the area u should improve on )
10 min - 30 min rapid is more useful for increasing ur calculation speed
Blitz is more useful for improving ur instincts
Bullet is more useful for warming up ur brain or checking whether u r in good form today
at the end of the day its up to u
and do what works for u
bullet helps getting my mind in the zone for thinking and calculating stuff (im kinda different ig)
no u r not different , im also kinda like that
The other day I played like 20 bullet games in a row, which by itself is already stressful. What caught me as somewhat annoying is when I hopped on to Daily and my calculation skills feel like utter garbage. Normally, I was able to calculate up to 5 moves deep and analyze positions and figure out what to do in them decently. Now my brain can't even bother to calculate for even 1 move deep even when I have more than enough time. Should I just stop playing bullet altogether and just focus on my forte time control?
Sounds like inertia to me...
It's difficult to change the mindset from "playing Bullet" to "playing Daily" within such a short span in time.
Even then, if you play only 20 bullet games in a row in just one day (rather than multiple days), you should be able to return to the mindset of Daily players in a few hours or days.
What happens if I play 20 bullet games everyday?
It actually highly depends on individual players. But for a large proportion of players, playing bullet gets them into a "lazy" mindset because bullet games are, after all, designed to give players the adrenaline rush.

The way you play games in repetition influences how you are.
In a game I won't name, I played 6 hours per day and it was repetitive. When I did sword-only for 2 days I would use the weapon perfectly and react 99% accuracy to everything in the mindset of using only the sword. When later that day I went back to using guns, my aim had become weaker to where shooting was a waste of time until I had re-trained myself over 2days to use guns again.
This experience showed me that what I choose to do over a long period of time programs my own self.
But if you wish to use bullet as a stress reliever or a milestone to improving your time management, do not stop playing bullet, but play the games in moderation.

I would never play bullet for the former reason (in fact it is the very thing that brings me stress in chess) but I do play it for the latter reason. 90% of the time I get behind on time because I think for too long in unfamiliar positions so I try to train my instincts with bullet.
