Does gukesh really deserves to be a World champion

According to some GM(Grandmaster), Gukesh doesn't deserve to be one. We don't know they are talking about Statistics, Strategy or just some kind off discrimination, But as we all see that in an interview magnus reffers that gukesh doesn't deserve to hold the title of World champion, he is weak for that title. But as per the universal law of KARMA, He played against gukesh and trash talked about him many time and lost twice in a row. We are not refering here that Gukush is better than Magnus l, but the idea of underestimating someone isn't a good thing. Yeah magnus is much-much better player than him, he has experience, he did won against kasparov in his childhood but if he couldn't even defend his World champion title and gave up on that, Doesn't show he will be the best player ever. What is your perception about this topic?

Unless Gukesh (or any player really) can defend the title at least once, then he's just a placeholder for the title.

He beat the previous champion so yes he is the world champion. And yes he did what it takes so yes he deserves it.

Magnus Won the world title by beating Annand and Importantly defended it a further 4 times, knocking him for walking away from the defence is very silly, you become a great chess champion if you defend the title multiple time which magnus has done, he had his reasons for walking away wanting quicker classical time controls to be considered. Magnus has proved even now he is still the best player in the world. Its up to Gukesh to prove he also has the metal as the present champion, not the best of seasons so far and he will face a much stronger opposition than Ding was once the winner emerges from the candidates! We all await with interest how it pans out.

He won it fair and square. I don't expect Gukesh to be world champion for long, and there's a bit of a cloud over anyone who won the title without Carlsen competing, but Gukesh still deserves the title.

Of course he played stellar in the candidates and won by beating ding with the rookie exchange into a 2 1 pawn endgame. So yes in that sense he deserves his win. Is he the level of Magnus no. Magnus is basically the best chess human of the last 1000 years. He's stronger than Kasparov, capablanca, morphy, steinitz. He's won every major tournament, won chess960 with a peak rating of 2906. He's known for incredible end game technique and meticulous inability to not blunder. His game vs Neppo in 2021 was 140+ moves where he converted an endgame with a knight and rook vs. a queen. That is one of the greatest games ever played. Hes maintained a peak rating of 2830 for 10+ years so he's gukesh has no chance. He's good at every category of chess Fischerrandom, blitz, bullet and classical and rapid. So no it's not even close we will never see another Magnus for a very long time. Engine calculation has made it even harder to dominate and carlsen still proves he can do it

He didn't deserve to win against Ding, and he surely will lose the next WC match.

Ding could've easily drawn the last game of the match and forced tiebreaks vs Gukesh. Ding could've easily won the match earlier if he hadn't had such a negative mindset. For example, in the reversed Benoni game where he lost, Ding was significantly better.

Quality-wise, in the Ding-Gukesh WC match, Ding played stronger, even in horrendous form.

Woulda...Shoulda...Coulda...The fact is he did win.

I firmly believe Ding threw the last round. He had way more than enough time on his clock to realize 55. Rf2 was a major blunder, even if his mind was a bit unsettled. The fact that he fell off the face of the earth immediately afterward doesn't help.

Apparently Ding is dealing with mental health issues including depression.

To answer the question we should look at history. The Soviets proved that having a team assisting you makes all the difference (unless you are up against a bona fide genius, like Robert J Fischer.) The Indians took it a step further, as in having a big team will overcome any obstacle. So while the Soviets composed teams of 4-6, the Indians composed a team of 10, plus trainers. Since we acknowledge past Soviets as world champions we must also acknowledge Gukesh. As far as talent is concerned, he is clearly not the most talented world champion.

He won it fairly and he deserves it. Coming ahead of Nepo, Hikaru and Fabi in Candidates isn't a piece of cake. He also showed his real form in the Olympiad by scoring 9/10. There are better players than him like Magnus but still he deserves it even if he loses the next match.
