Does the rating points go down more when you resign vs losing?

Ok so can someone tell me whether the rating goes down more when you resign a game or losing a game? Thank you!

No, it's the same however you lose unless less than 4 moves each have been played (no points either way). It's based on your rating and your opponents rating eg.more points if you win vs someone 200 above you than 200 below you. Also Glicko RD is taken into account, a system which calculates how accurate your rating is based on how many games you have played and how often.

If you want to get technical...

… the longer you drag out the game, the more time passes and the higher your Glicko RD will climb, and the more points a loss will cost you.

I had a high Glicko RD once, but my doctor gave me Jardiance and it went away.

I had a high Glicko RD once, but I drank a big glass of salty water... no, wait... but I gained 162 rating points in my next two games, before my inflated RD evaporated like the morning dew.

Not kidding.

This one was +108 points.
