I think a 15|0 game is the right amount of time for a lot of reasons, including if someone does abandon the game (or is accidentally disconnected) the wait isn't too long.
don't be mad when you lost a game

Some people doesn't care about this, when you play like in live chess and you are winning, suddenly your opponent won't resign instead just running away from the game, shutting down there computers with even saying "gg" and you keep waiting in the middle of no where for a long time " like somebody has to press the resign button"..really it is waste of time..if you lost then so be it, accept it and just play another game and take your revenge thats real good chess player is..
I love beating people like this. This happens alot to me. They think they annoy me by waiting out their clock when they lose but it really just gives me a nice warm feeling inside knowing that I beat him up so bad he is behaving like a little kid. I leave the sound on, start up a another game or watch tv or surf until I hear him make a move or run out of time. They achieve nothing at all. And they also get added to another persons ignore/ban list. :-)

I usually just resign and start a new game if i'm sure they are not coming back. My rating isn't that important to me, I just don't wan it to drop past a certain level.

This is intriguing...we are being told "don't be mad," yet apparently it is the fact that the OP got mad about the stuff he discusses in the OP that led to all of this.
hi mr. tonydal i have big respect on you, becoz you are a titled player, but it seems like your a title didnt match on your personality, it seems like your not respecting someones opinion..does title players supposed to be humble? peace.
Lol you apparently don't know Mr. Tony :) he plays chess the same way he does his comments; it gets on your nerves :D

I call em as I see em, Ray. Don't know what any of this has to do with humility...but it seems to me like you're not being very humble (or something) if you tell us to do one thing when you're acting in the opposite direction. And I do not mistake the current age of aloof "politeness" for real respect by any stretch of the word. To me if you really respect somebody, you tell them what you really think--not just give them the usual safe pap in response (that is after all the way you treat people when you're humoring or pitying them).
(And thanks btw to Jason for resurrecting your deleted remark.)
hi mr. tony, first of all i deleted my comment to avoid further arguments, my opinion is very clear, im not insisting you or pushing someone to do things. In away you responded on this post shows that you dont have much respect to my opinion, see you can be dissapointed in your game but its that fine with you when your in the middle of your game and your clearly winning but all of the sudden your opponent hangsup his computer leaving the game while the clock is still running or why can just someone press that resign button and just play another game, I mean you can undrstand when someone gets disconnected but the logic here in my opinion is to show SPORTMANSHIP to all. And this is what i think and want to share it to everybody and as you said "To me if you really respect somebody, you tell them what you really think" thats why I still have a great respect on you most specially your a titled player. Well if you really don't like any of my post then just dont be bother yourself giving comments. Peace

We hear this topic constantly around here and bringing up this issue is pointless, especially when your spiel is really a vent attempting to masquerade as some sort of call for politeness. Learn to cope better with this aspect of the game (for it is indeed a part of the game)...and just be glad that you are winning.
And if you don't want to hear others' viewpoints (even if they don't agree with yours), don't post on a public forum.
Cheers.
