Draw by insufficient material is so annoying

Why is it that 90% of the times that my king is the only piece on board during a bullet match, the game ends up on a draw when the opponent runs out of time??
I'm sweating running my king around in intense bullet games but the game is still draw when I should clearly be winning the game. After all, it's about time trial isn't it??
Also, that doesn't ever happen in my favour, let's say if opponent has only 1 king and I run out of time then I rarely ever get the draw, this is stupidly unfair.

I guess it's not all about a time trial. Maybe you need to try to preserve your pieces and try to mate your opponent too.

If you run out of time and your opponent only has a king, you will get a draw. However, if he has even one pawn left, no draw.

Chess is about being able to deliver checkmate. To do that you need time and material. Having only half of what you need to win doesn't get you a win.
