I have also heard about listening to Mozart for clearer thinking, but not really tried it myself. Interesting to hear about from you ANONYM.

A couple other things I heard ...the first seems true in my experience but the second I'm not sure about. (1) That standing up rather than sitting can increase the speed of thoughts by 15%. (2) That the brain functions best when a person is in a 42 degree Fahrenheit environment. [But isn't that supposed to be the ideal temp for BEER, too!? ] Laughing

When I've played in tournaments I have found it to be helpful at times to stand and review my game. Sometimes from the other side of the board as well. But I wonder if this does not explain why we Always seem to see a Great Move that the players miss, while we are standing and observing their game ?!? ... especially blitz games~!

I've been trying the Mozart thing for the past few weeks. I'm not sure if Chess.com ratings tell the whole story, but my correspondence rating has been off the roof ever since.

I just try to be fit and concentrated when I go into a serious game. That's when I am able to play my best games. I know some guys that take concentration pills like Modalert and some that are buying generic Carisoprodol online because it's cheap. I just think that's not a way to play chess, some are taking it really over the top, it's still a game.

Has anyone done any experiments with salvia divinorum and chess?

I've often wondered if Aderol or Ritalin would help.
