e4
e4 VS d4!!
So this is my opinion so don't kill me-
d4! d4! d4!
I think that e4 is more tactical whil d4 is more positional
D4 can become tactical fast if someone has the nerve to play the queens gambit accepted, likewise e4 can become more positional if the sicilian is played.
The Ruy Lopez often starts as an open game and ends up as a double-fianchetto defense. Is that positional? Tactical? Ridiculous?
I personally play 1.e4, though 1.d4 is great if you want to avoid the sicilian (however you can't really avoid the queen gambit, and the only gambit I play(and for which I took some time to study) is the Smith-Morra, so I rarely play 1.d4). However, I think that the Barzca system (1.Nf3 followed by a kingside fianchetto and kingside castling on the 4th move) isn't bad. But all systems have their advantages/disadvantages.
What about a3. and e3 good Dr.,they start with vowels?
Evreryone knows 4 is better than 3.
It is simply a matter of taste. If you prefer open positions play e4 and for closed positions play d4. Nothing more nothing less
trick question! 1. b3 trumps all! nimzo-larsen attack ftw :D
