This sacrifice just DOES NOT WORK!! You CANNOT checkmate your opponent if you do this UNLESS YOU GET LUCKY AND THEIR PARTNER INTENTIONALLY TRADES PIECES!! THIS “ATTACK” IS A HUGE BLUNDER AND YOU WILL NEVER WIN WITH IT. FOR SURE YOU CAN CALCULATE THIS SACRIFICE LATER IN THE GAME BUT IN THE OPENING IT NEVER WORKS!!

Like in the fried liver? I can assure you it works. Same as the bishop sac in the traxler.

It works. It does work. I have won many times with it in bughouse. It is not the best strat, but it does work, otherwise it wouldn't be so popular. Also, even if there is no immediate conclusion, the opponent still has to defend carefully or else get completely destroyed.

That’s an exception

Send me a link to your game and your partners game, and I will see how your opponent could have won.

Its kinda like when you first learn the 2, and move move mates.  You thought they would work forever, until you ran into someone better, and knows how to play against it.  Its the same thing with the Fried Liver, Traxler, etc.  They work because of ignorance.  But their is a reason you done see them played by the better players...they don't work.

Yes they look impressive in bullet, where blunders abound.

I was just going to post this... I lose every time Bxf7+ Kxf7 early... I posted about it last time it happened too... It's not good, but it's good enough to rattle me.

Early piece sacks don't work in chess if not they would be more common.

In bughouse they can work but you need to play a good follow up

I do agree though, at least most of the time. I play against a lot of Cochrane gambit. It doesn't work

That is quite wrong. Both of them are sacrifices, and they are both sound as the easily compensate.

Every... Time... Super sloppy both sides and I lose... I should just resign after Bxf7+... Then again, all I do is lose recently... Down from 1430 to 1270 in a couple of weeks...

As a player who takes on f7 in my bullet whites on every single opportunity, which is about 1/3 of  games here, I can assure you taking on f7 always works. Just like the King's Gambit, the "trick" is that you should play for the positional compensation, even when I only get an extra central pawn the way out for black usually is sacrificing back a piece for two pawns, and it is hard to arrive at such decisions quickly. In the Petroff "sac mainline" ...d6 4. Nf7 black plays d5 and for a while is down 3 pawns for the piece, but I think I've been scoring just as well in the Caro Kann when I get the chance to play Nxe4 Ng5 Nxf7 for only one pawn. That single pawns job is to be on f4 with my remaining knight on e5, and after fxe5 to open the f-file for one final assault. Needless to say at the grandmaster level players have studied well these positions and may even know the theory till the end, but up to master opposition they work decently

I never said I played online bughouse. I do, but I prefer OTB bughouse more. The sacrifice does not work as well online, for a few reasons. I don't play on a computer often, so I don't really get a chance to play bughouse unless it's OTB.
