Elo drop

Hi, have not played on this site for months, played one game, lost.  And Elo dropped about 40 points.

How is this possible?  Before when loosing games elo dropped 7-8 points.

It is not very "welcoming" If you punish players who have not played in a while with Huge elo drop!

Because you become, well rusty might not be the word, but something like being rusty. I am not sure and I have never seen this before so it’s just a guess

Your guess is based on you misunderstanding the question. You were actually answering a different question.

The real answer is: if you don't play for a long time, your multiplier goes up, and that means more points gained and lost per game.

I think this is the feature of the Glicko rating system, which is a very dubious "improvement" of the Elo-system.
