gee, that's really freakish. They were an amazing pop group with a unique sound, blending electronica, tight vocal harmony and lots of energy... very sad he has gone.

Tournaments are good you get a decent mix of rated players.  Having had a few recent breakthoughs in my game I like having a good dozen or so games going of -100 rated games.  I can try out a slew of canned tactics this way and it also solidifies my tactical speed.  Conversely playing to a higher opponent and it is soon very apparent any "problems" I may be having with a particular opening. 

So even the way we choose our opponents is a tactical decision, chess is life
