because the Queen scopes so many squares you should be able to get your queen to get the opposing king in check and knight being attacked at the same time. Not seeing your game you must use your king as an attacking piece as well. Have you ever tried check mateing with a pair of bishops or a bishop and knight against a king ending? thats much harder!

Basically, if the knight cannot be won immediately, you want to pressure your opponent to the edge of the board untill finally he runs out of good moves and must give up the knight or be checkmated.
You would want your king to be on a square where it can't be directly checked by the knight, so he cannot harass you and you can continue pushing and making progress.
What is the technique for winning with a Queen and King against a Knight and King? I played this against the computer (medium) and couldn't ever figure out how to win.The game eventually was called a draw.
